HARAJU CUBE @ Empire Damansara, Damansara Perdana

I love ice-cream~
Have you ever wonder instead of having mushroom soup inside the bread but ice-cream in a square box bread?! Well, I come across this shop last weekend at the Heritage Lane, at Empire Damansara.
At first, we are wonder why there are such a long queue of youngster in front of the cafe, so we took a peek and realise the cafe is having break from 6pm till 7pm but the queue for the cafe is getting longer. Out of curiosity we join the queue and then I just realise most of the people in the queue is youngster age around 16 till 23 years old. You might not believe but let see...

The view from the 2nd Floor

The shop is located at the first floor which directly above Texas Chicken or Boat Noodle in Empire Damansara. To my surprise, I wonder how people can find this cafe which is not so appearing and I haven't even come across any of their advertisement. As you can see from the picture, people are queuing for the shop re-open at 7pm.

Interior inside the cafe

We manage to get our seat after half an hour queue. With the hot and humid weather outside, I am glad that I am finally inside. Which is worst, I got bitten by the mosquito while queuing since is getting darker outside. You will be given a number to get seated, and you have to walk to cashier to order and pay at the same time. Didn't manage to get a snap of their menu, since the place is small and crowded at the same time.

                                      Haraju-Milk                     Haraju-Bomb RM32.90
                              Butterscotch RM8.90

First let talk about the Milk which in butterscotch flavor, the only thing I can describe is smooth, creamy and sweet. Also, the butter cookie, isn't it perfect in every way already? The waiting time for the bread ice-cream is around 10 to 15 minutes. I had mine in 10 minutes may be because I was there earlier to order and as you can see I choose Macha ice-cream. Trust me, in the picture you might think this is just a dessert but let me tell you, the bottom of the ice-cream is another 8 pieces of thick bread which might make you full. Most of the table are sharing, and some of them can't even finish and definitely we don't eat the square hard crush bread which is super hard, may be that why it can hold so much filling inside. Besides, they provide free self re-fill of drinking water which located near the entrance.

The sign on the cutting board

Overall, the place is nice to hangout and now I understand why the place attract so many youngster. 1st: because once the food is serve - take pic, 2nd: even the place is small but cozy, 3rd: may be free flow cold drinking water? Hahahaha~ I might go back again to try their single toast but is better to go with bigger crowd, so we can share the food and cost too. Btw, this cafe have no GST ^ ^

KHUNTHAI RESTAURANT @ Desa Aman Puri, Kepong

Will you ever craving for Thai Food?
I always love Thai Food, the spice, chilly, sweet and sour taste which make you craving for more. The spiciness of the Thai Food is very different from our Malaysia spicy sambal, soup or dishes. I can't really describe well but I believe once you tasted the authentic Thai Food, you will understand.

I found this Thai Restaurant when I had dinner appointment at Tak Fook Seafood, however, I was lost pass by this restaurant and is surely crowded with family. Therefore, since my mother is around the town, I won't miss the chance since both of us love Thai food. This is what we ordered:

Kerabu Mango - RM10.00

I am so delight when the kerabu serve, this because - where can you get a kerabu serve with so much cashew nut? normally kerabu always serve with peanut and I never expect they serve it with cashew nut. With the generous amount of cashew nut serve, suddenly I felt the serving is worth the price.

 Steam Lemon Lala - RM18.00

They don't have the Lala on that day, therefore we are serve with the hard shell clam instead. The taste of the clam is very refreshing and I surely believe that the clam is fresh with make sauce much more tastier. Besides, there is a bit of spiciness which bring it perfection for the dishes.

White Tom Yam Sea Food - RM23.00

When you in Thai Restaurant, how possible to miss the soup? Well, I always like white or clear Tom Yam soup compare to the red one which we usually see in most of the Thai restaurant or stall. Clear Tom Yam is very popular in Thailand which the soup is not that oily and creamy but it still very spicy and you can fell every taste of the spice. In Khun Thai, the Tom Yam soup is serve in the hot pot and what most interesting is there are burning charcoal inside which keep the soup hot and boiling.

 White Rice - RM3.60

The white rice is serve in an aluminium pot which keep to keep warm, at least I think so. The price of the white rice is for the serving of 3 pax. If I not mistaken, they are using the Siam Rice instead of Jasmine rice and I am fine either rice since I am more excited with the dishes than the rice.

The Interior Design inside the Restaurant

The picture of the old kings and royal family

Elephant head and others decoration from Thailand

The staff are friendly and since we are having a late dinner therefore, no much crowd and the serving is fast. I think this is either a pork-free or halal restaurant since I saw a  large group of Malay family having their meal here. We also have a pot of Pu Erh Tea and it cost RM5.00. Total spend inclusive GST is RM63.20.

Overall, the food is worth the money and I will definitely come back again to try their other dishes. My advise is better sit inside the restaurant than outside which you may enjoy the ambiance and Thai song which really bring you back to Thailand. Hahahaha.... Cheers~

RAMEN TEN @ IPC, Mutiara Damansara

IPC = Ikano Power Centre, I think most of us know IKEA but not IPC.
IPC is the building located is next to IKEA, we might not realise since is attached with Ikea. If you ask me where would I like to shop, personally I would prefer Mutiara Damansara, because the shopping mall is spacious and they even have Tesco hypermarket. However when come to food I would prefer to go down to One Utama instead.

As usual after a long day shopping before GST, is time for dinner... normally I would prefer to have meal at Ikea Restaurant but once you see the crowd and queue. Trust me, even finding a place to sit also a challenge. In LG floor, there are lots of food to offer and I found Ramen Ten. Ramen Ten is located at LG-23A or directly below Cold Storage, the shop is not that big but at least manage to fit the 3 of us.

Let see what we have;

Chicken Teriyaki Bento

Miso Soup

As you can see, the bento come with miso soup, cold taufu, rice and salad. The bento cost RM13.80. For a bento I believe that the price is normal, but I do like the taste of the Teriyaki chicken which is not too sweet or salty. Others side dishes is just normal and nothing special.

Super Spicy Ramen Chicken

Super Spicy Ramen

I had the Super Spicy Ramen, as you may see the Ramen soup is nothing different from Miso soup and trust me is not spicy at all but when you added super spicy chicken, is burning and I had to agree now. Is really SUPER SPICY, good thing I did not pour all the spicy minced chicken into the Ramen and it really remind me of the Penang White Curry, the white Miso soup turn into red hot and spicy soup in a second. The Ramen cost RM15.80 and is not that big bowl, just a normal serving since I can manage to finish.

Besides, we had order another set of bento and I am not able to take picture of Yaki Tori & Age Dashi Bento with also cost RM13.80. I am quite surprise that both my husband and my mother would choose bento instead of ramen here. We also order, both hot and cold ocha (free flow) and it cost RM2.00 each. Since we went there before GST implementation, we are charge 10% for the service charge. The meal total cost RM52.15 for 3 pax.

Overall, the food is just normal and I personally think the super spicy ramen did live up to the name.

Soup Restaurant @ One Utama

Whenever is raining day, I will be start craving for soup. Not just any soup but is Traditional Chinese Soup which is hot with aroma. I use to have visit the Soup Restaurant in Singapore and believe me their are super popular in Singapore where you need to queue especially during weekend and dinner time. Recently, I found this Soup Restaurant in One Utama, and I think they had another one in Jaya 33. Since my mother came to visit me from Singapore by bus and so coincidence the bus stop at Terminal Bandar Utama therefore, we decided to give a try at the Soup Restaurant here.

Let see what we had order:

Samsui Chicken - RM42.30

Samsui Chicken is their signature or must have dish if you visit this restaurant. The chicken is ok but cold and the ginger is a bit too oily and what I think it really spoil is the plastic spoon there?! how come a fine dinning Chinese restaurant serving with plastic spoon?

Iceberg lettuce - come with the chicken

Lettuce is come with the chicken which you use it to wrap the chicken. The lettuce is very fresh and crunchy too. May be the chicken is too salty and oily for us therefore, is not even enough though.

Traditional Boiled Soup of the day - RM10.50

Well, I would like to say nothing special about the soup since is just a normal Lotus roots with peanut soup. I am glad that I ordered this, at least something warm for my meal.

 Braised Peanuts - Starter

Claypot Eggplant with Salted Fish - RM18.95

Well, among all I think this will be the best dish. May be due to I like eggplant that why I personally think this dish is among the best of all. The eggplant is not overcook and it tender but I really didn't realise that is any salted fish though.

The Cutlery

 The environment - Bamboo Tree

Cozy Environment

Besides, we had order 3 plain rice for RM7.05, one Chinese tea RM2.35, two plain water for RM2.10 and since the implement of GST therefore the service charge is RM7.83 + GST of 6% for service charge which is RM0.47. For a meal for 3 pax which cost is RM91.55, I think is slightly expensive and disappointing for the quality of food here is not as good as the one in Singapore. Even though they charge for Service Charge but still I have to walk to the counter to make payment.

Bak Kut Teh @ Restoran Ban Lee, Kuala Lumpur

What I hate about KL? TRAFFIC JAM...
If I need to go KL in the evening, I am sure take my dinner before going home. I am not sure which one traffic is worst? KL or PJ? After stuck at Jalan Tun Razak for more than half an hour, I finally give up and drive myself to this Restaurant which located next to Dynasty hotel in Jalan Ipoh. For those who live in KL, I believe this is one of the best Bak Kut Teh in town, Restaurant Ban Lee.

Reach there during dinner time, as usual parking is always an issue however, we are lucky to manage get a parking behind Dynasty hotel. The restaurant is quite crowded therefore, we decide to sit out side. Let see what we order:-

Signature Claypot Bak Kut Teh

Bak Kut Teh - Lean Meat & Pig Intestine

White Chicken Drumstick

Yau Char Quai

I have to agree that KL food is never cheap. The Bak Kut Teh is already RM13/pax? is use to be only RM11. I wonder if they increase price due to GST? Drumstick is RM11 and Yau Char Quai is RM3 for small portion. Also, the white rice is RM1.40 per bowl... Overall the food is nice and the soup is really not too salty, bitter or oily. Besides, the service is good too cause it keep help you to refill the soup and even help me to heat up Bak Kut Teh... no worry they did not charge Service Charge but they do charge 6% GST. Trust me,,, they soup is what you will craving for especially during raining day!
