Eden Dim Sum City @ Bandar Menjalara, Kepong

My weekend, another dim sum treat at Kepong.
However, this time is not the Fu Lai Dim Sum which I had post recently. This Eden Dim Sum is located at No.31, Jalan 9/62A, Bandar Menjalara Kepong. I always like to have my dim sum in the morning instead of any other hour of the day. Lots of my friends always ask me, why dim sum? I would proudly answer, why not? you got the chance to try lots variety of food from steaming hot, fried, or even cold dessert. It actually satisfy my curiosity.
Let see what I am having in Eden Dim Sum;

Siew Mai?!

Since my Chinese is poor, therefore, I do have some problem in remembering the dish name even they had to repeat few time. I know the above is surely not Siew Mai, instead is the prawn and fish paste with vegetable wrap by the dumpling skin. Very nice and tasty, instantly become my favorite where I had finish all 3 pieces by myself.

Porridge

Nothing special since is just common pork porridge with century egg. Which come to my disappointed is they don't even care to put some spring onion on top of it. However, they did give you the condiment of soy sauce and pepper. Shouldn't have order this...

Fu Chok wrap fish paste

Instead of having common 'yu mai' or fish ball, I would really like to try other type of dishes with fish paste. The 'Fu Chok' or beancurb skin is nicely cook with slightly sweet and the fish paste inside is tender. I don't even bother to dip it with my sweet and chili sauce.

Har Kau with Kuchai leave

 As seen, the skin is shinning and the serving is big. It really make me happy even just by looking at it. I love the meat inside which is hot and juicy, may be due to it have Kuchai leave inside which make the dishes to perfection.

Fried Fish Paste wrap with Fu Chok

I seldom will have a chance to take fried dim sum, may be due to my husband prefer the pipping hot dim sum instead of the cold fried one. Anyway, I like this fried fish paste with fu chok, dipping in mayonnaise, even though most of fried dish is cold but I am fine as long as is not oily.

Sushi Dim Sum?!

I was stupid when I saw this, the interior do look like sushi where there is crab stick on top of the fish paste and the way it wrap with the Fu Chok. LOL~ I found it interesting and the taste, is better than sushi of course since is all meat!!! thumb up!

Smoke Duck wrap with Bacon

This is something caught our eyes, due to curiosity I took it which out thinking where when I first thought is my husband favourite - bacon wrap. However, it turn out nice too. For a meat eater like me, I found it was slightly dry and salty but it really filling too. I like it since is full of meat.

Bacon wrap

This is the dishes that we will never miss, bacon wrap. Both my husband and I favourite. I found that the bacon is slightly fat but maybe that why it was juicy and by adding some vegetable in the pork make it  taste fresh and create a very nice smell too.

Fish Paste wrap with pork skin

This is another dish where you won't find it everyday or I would say rare dish. The look and the taste is somehow reach my expectation and I would not ask more since I think is enough for the day. Even though is brunch, I am too full to have any dessert anymore.

If you would ask me to compare Fu Lai Dim Sum and Eden Dim Sum, I might prefer Eden since I believe there are more others dished where I am yet to try. In term of price, we had 6 dishes of Dim Sum which cost RM4.50 each, 3 special dishes of Dim Sum which cost RM6.50 each, and a pot of tea which cost us RM3.50 and they do charge GST of 6% which come out with the total bill of RM53.00 for 9 dishes. If you notice, they dim sum serving is somehow reasonable where every plate is serve with 3 pieces of dim sum.

One more thing before I ended my post is Eden Dim Sum closed at 2:30pm and I believe they open as early as 7am. Since I reach there almost noon therefore, there are not much crowd and the service is not bad. Overall, I will definitely going to have my Dim Sum there again.

Roti Jala & Mutton curry @ Ikea Restaurant

Is going to rain, that is what I had seen from the dark and windy sky. Since I am stuck in Ikano Power Center, where else shall I have my dinner alone? What food shall I have? All this questions suddenly prompt out from my head. Well, when u alone having dinner, it would be less hassle if you choose fast food. Therefore, I choose Ikea Restaurant and Cafe which located at 1st floor;

Roti jala with mutton curry set include 1 mushroom soup @ RM13.90. Also, I added 1 piece of popiah @ RM1.00. Somehow I feel like after GST, the price is getting cheaper where previously they would charge 5% government tax which my popiah would cost RM1.05.

Roti Jala ( the one in yellow ), so mini and small. Taste?! I had a better one than this before or I may say it didn't taste as good as I expected. Curry mutton - good and thumb up, however too much fat. I had to cut out most of the fat and it only left half of the portion is meat.

Popiah, my favourite! Besides their signature beef meatball, this is also my all time favorite from Ikea. The skin is crispy and the vegetable is fresh and tasty. I like to dip on chilly sauce and mustard.

Ikea soup of the day or I would say soup of everyday - Mushroom soup. The taste is just average and it was not as hot as I expected. But since it was come as a set with the roti jala so is was worth the price and it is my first time trying it too.

As for drink, for an Ikea family member you will get free coffee or tea and is refillable. Cool right? Therefore, the total bill including GST is only cost RM14.90. Having dinner alone once in a while is not bad and this is my first time using the mobile blogger apps to post too. Interesting~

2D 1N @ Singapore Trip ~ Day 2

Singapore Day 2

If you by any chance miss my Singapore Trip Day 1, please click here.
Let me continue with my day 2 trip in Singapore, after my day 1 trip in Sentosa Island, where the fun never end, I am totally exhausted. Therefore, I have no choice to skip some of my plan.

First, as promise, let me start with our accommodation. We are staying a night in this Tai Hoe Hotel at 163 Kitchener Road, Singapore. The hotel is just located opposite City Square Mall, and the nearest MRT would be Farrer Park. Well, the main reason why we choose this hotel is because is walking distance to 24 Hours Mustafa Centre and the price is reasonable too even though is on the peak seasons.

Tai Hoe Hotel - SGD110.00 nett/room/night

Well, this hotel room is small, as expected in Singapore so no complain but overall the room is clean and the staff is ok. This is the first time I stay in a hotel where their have the basin outside wash room and more odd is, it was facing the bed, where the bed will get slightly wet whenever you use the basin. LOL~

Jalan Besar - Famous Pig Organ Soup

The weather in Singapore is hot same like Malaysia, but in term of humidity, I think Singapore is better where there are more trees, clean and slightly windy. I heard there are lots of famous food in Jalan Besar and it basically just located nearby the hotel. Well, suppose we would like to have the famous dim sum in Jalan Besar however, they are closed. Disappointed and we end up here;

Da Lian Traditional Noodles Shop and Interior

Drink - SGD2.80

Oyster Soup Noodle - SGD6.00
Dry Noodles Middle - SGD4.00

Soup for the Dry Soup and Golden Fish Cake - SGD2.00

Da Lian Traditional Noodles which open 24 hours and located at 216G, #01-03 Syed Alwi Road, Singapore. From the name, we already know their are serving Chinese Food. Trust me, the food serving is too much for us, now I understand why the next table sharing the bowl of noodle, basically the serving of noodle is double of we usually had. For a breakfast, the noodle is toooo much.

After having such a heavy breakfast, is time to exercise - Walk. Being excited we walk all the way to another 24 hour store, MUSTAFA. It only take around 10 minutes to reach Mustafa from Da Lian restaurant. I found some interesting things in Mustafa and would like to share here;

 My choice of Souvenir - F&B

  After some shopping in Mustafa, we had to rush back to hotel for check out and lucky our hotel is just 5 minute walk from here. I believe this place is much more happening at night. Checking out at 12pm and I know is time for lunch however may be we had too much for breakfast therefore we take our own sweet time to Yishun to meet both my sister and brother.

Both my sister and brother recommend food in Yishun;

Bei Sheng Seafood - SGD48 (total bill)

As you can see we are too rushing to take individual photo for every single dishes due to, both my siblings is hungry while waiting for us. My brother ordered dishes which include, stir fry vegetable, Squid, soup, fried pineapple rice,Thai style fried Fish and sweet and sour pork. This Thai food restaurant is located at Blk 701-A, #01-01, Yishun Ave 5. After main course, what will be next? Dessert of course;

Xin Wang @ Northpoint

Mango SnowIce & Mango Pamelo

Now, I have to admit the serving in Singapore is ridiculously LARGE?! I was surprise when they serve my Mango SnowIce, I was stun for few minute before start taking picture of it and I am totally no idea how to start to enjoy the food. Both my husband and I been struggling and freezing to finish it while both my sister and brother enjoy the Mango Pamelo and smirking to us. Anyway, I did enjoy the dessert which is cooling since the weather outside is hot and is just nice after we had some hot and spicy lunch. The Mango SnowIce is cost SGD6.90 and Mango Pamelo is cost SGD6.50, there are also charging service charge of 10 % and 7 % GST which come to total SGD15.75.

Our Singapore journey end by taking the train back from Yishun to Kranji station and change to SBS bus 170 to Johor Bahru. I am glad to be able to bring my husband to visit and eat around Singapore which is full with fun and interesting food venture. I will be back again soon!!!

2D 1N @ Singapore Trip ~ Day 1

Singapore Day 1

Singapore is already like second home to me since I been staying and working there for couple of years before I got married. Travelling from Johor Bahru to Singapore just like a piece of cake. In-fact, there are some Johorian which working in Singapore, been travel to and back Johor Bahru everyday. Since is a long weekend, I already expecting there will be more people entering to Singapore as usual. So both me and my husband trying so hard to wake up early to taking a public bus to JB Central. The worst thing which I never like JB is public transport, Bus - no fix time and you can wait till one or two hour and Taxi - no meters and they will choose customer which they prefer those working in Singapore or Singaporean. I am not sure if we are lucky or not but after waiting for half an hour, the bus show up.

  inside the bus to custom

The journey to JB central take us around half an hour, since this bus is using the new highway called EDL and the last station is JB central which directly below JB immigration. Upon have our passport scanned by the automatic machine, we have to walk down to the bus stop to take another bus to enter Singapore. I choose to take SMRT bus no 950 which I can buy the ticket of RM1.80 towards woodlands interchange for breakfast or brunch.

950 bus from JB custom to SG custom and Woodlands Interchange

The ride is where you board the bus from JB custom then get down at Singapore custom for stamp your passport then hop back to the bus to continue journey to Woodlands Interchange. You must be thinking why Woodlands Interchange? I use to stay nearby Woodlands and I am hunting for my favorite which I never miss when I am in Singapore @ Woodlands Causeway Point.

 MOS Burger !!!

Hahaha~ I always like this and whenever I come to Singapore is never complete if I missed it. I had the Seafood rice burger set with a side dish of fried chicken and drink. The set if I not mistaken is around SGD8+, sorry lost the receipt therefore unable to describe the exact amount but if you mentions of the taste... Awesome!!!! The rice, filling and the sauces is giving you a perfectly aroma and you can even feel the freshness of all the ingredient inside. Previously, they have the Fried Mussel Lemon but is not in the menu anymore. My all time favorite...

Oh, by the way, did I mentions that my sister is working in Singapore? hahaha~ another reason why I choose to visit Singapore. In Malaysia we have  LRT and in Singapore there are more known as MRT.
  Train Directory & Woodland Platform

Meeting my sister for lunch after a brunch, how fat can I be? Taking train from Woodlands to Yishun is just few station away. Travel by train is much faster and convenience for tourist like us. The journey Yishun station it like about 10 minutes and we have to go across to Yishun North Point meet up with my sister. Let see what my sister recommend us;

 3 cup of Pu'er Tea - SGD4.05

 Braise Vineger Pork - SGD8.80

 Fried Beans - SGD9.80

 Shanghai La Mien - SGD10.80

 Crab with raw egg - SGD11.00

 Shanghai Xio Long Pao - SGD2.70

 Tea Pot Soup - SGD7.00

 Condiment

The restaurant name is Mayin Chinese Cuisine Pte Ltd, as mentions earlier this restaurant is located at #02-01/05, North Point Shopping Centre. If you ask me on their food, I think the one I likes most would be Xio Long Pao, because is so juicy and the skin cook just nice. OK, let talk about others, Tea is quite unique where they serve you in individual cup the taste normal lor, just a normal Pu'er. Please don't mistaken the Tea Pot soup is a part of the tea, it actually is a dish, where there are some mushroom, meat and vegetable inside. For the Braise Vinegar Pork slices, I would say so-so since is kinda fat but they did marinated well and for the Fried bean and La Mien is just normal nothing special to mentions about. Personally, I don't like raw egg, the crab dish with raw egg is really not my type at the moments I saw the raw egg and they stir it in front of you. But I did try, the taste is not bad but I might enjoy it if I know there are no raw egg inside.The total bill come out at SGD63.75 where they also charge service tax of 10% and GST of 7 %. Well, now I think Malaysia is better when I realize we only charge 6% for GST.

Our journey continue after lunch, is to Sentosa Island. Going to Sentosa Island from Yishun is a bit tricky where we had change from MRT- Red Line then Circle Line and finally only to Purple Line just to reach Harbor Front Station. Indeed is very far journey but we only take less than 45 minute to reach. From Harbor Front then we need to take bus RWS8 to enter Sentosa Island. The bus will be stopping in front of the Casino and it cost SGD2.00. Else, you can walk to Sentosa Island but still you need to pay SGD1.00 for the entrance. Other alternate way to enter Sentosa Island would be by Train - SGB3.00 or Cable Car - forget how much but surely expensive.

Sentosa Island - Toward Imbiah Park

Sentosa Island is very crowded especially on the weekend. So walking is always the best choice for us, besides sight-seeing and taking photo, who know if I am lucky with my food hunt.

Walking on the hot and humid day? ice-cream is a must!!! Coconut Gelato ice-cream which really make the journey more enjoyable. Thumb up for the ice-cream with the cost around SGD5+ @ the Stick House just located below the Imbiah Station.

There are 2 activities or ride to be done in Sentosa Island today which I would strongly recommend is Luge & Skyride. Trick-eyes Museum is a newly attraction in Sentosa Island which I can't wait to take tones of picture.

Luge & Skyride

Too bad we can't take any picture while riding the Luge but like it said, Once is never Enough. We did enough our trip all the way down and is so fun until we forget the hot and the sweat. Hahahaha~ After sliding down by Luge we have to took the Skyride back up, as you can see it really exciting where it feel like siting on an open air cable car. Since I scare of height therefore, no able to look down even my feet. Honestly, Once is never enough, how we wish to take few more time on this ride but looking at the queue, we give up as we still have one more attraction to go.

Nice view

 Trickeye Museum Singapore

The queue is super long for this attraction and we had waited for more than half an hour for our turn enter and the museum is not as big as we expected. We have to queue and wait for our turn to take picture. We had spend around 3 hours inside taking picture, can you believe it? hahahaha~ Oops, I forget to mentions the cost for the attraction, Luge + Skyride and the Trickeye Museum is come up to total SGD30 per pax. Cheap right? This is thanks to my sister taking the trouble to bought it for us. Thanks again my lovely sister!!!

By the time we exit the Trickeye Museum, the sky is already dark. Therefore, we heading back to Vivo City for dinner. Planning to take dinner in Sentosa but after looking at the overprice food, I would rather try something else. Actually, we wanted to take train to Vivo City but the queue is super long till all the way down in front of the station therefore we decide to take the same bus RWS8 from the Resort World Sentosa back to Harbor Front bus stop. That is the end of our Sentosa Trip.

Our dinner at Food Republic in Vivo City;

Bimbibab Set - SGD8.90

Since we are too hungry and tired therefore we forget about taking picture and start eating when we reach the table. Food Republic is very crowded as usual and since it the food court that directly opposite the Sentosa rail therefore, most of the people dine in here after they trip in Sentosa either for dinner or supper. There are lots of stall selling all type of variety of food and I am totally spoil by the choices.

Our day end by taking train back to hotel which located near Farrer Park Station. I will share more about my hotel on my next post. Exhausted but fun! I would love to go Sentosa Island again.
