3D 2N @ Langkawi Island Trip ~ Day 1

Langkawi Day 1

Well, this is a last minute trip as nothing been planned suddenly me and a buddy of mine want to go Pulau Langkawi, reason?! "I never been there before?!" Therefore, we take a bus from Puduraya on Friday midnight - 12am (Saturday Morning). Since we buying the bus last minute, it cost us RM55 per person by Durian Burung Double-Decker coach. The journey take us around 7 hours and we sleep all the way to Kuala Perlis Bus Terminal.

Kuala Perlis Bus Terminal

Once we reach Kuala Perlis Bus Terminal, there are local will ask you if you going to Langkawi Island? Have you got accommodation yet and rented a car yet? and even guide you the way to the ferry terminal nearby. Therefore we follow the director given by the local and also follow the covered part  and we reach the ferry terminal. It take about 5 minute to reach the jetty.

The Jetty to Kuala Perlis

Once we reach the Jetty, we are surprise of the crowd?! so many people and we need to queue for the ferry ticket. It take me an hour to queue for the ferry ticket to buy an hour later ferry to Langkawi. As you may see from the above picture, there is lots school kids mostly from Kedah, Perlis or even Kelantan have their school trip there. The Ferry ticket is not expensive and only cost RM18 one way per person. After bought the 10am ferry ticket we went to look for breakfast. There are some restaurant across the ferry serve breakfast, without second thought we just order as to have a quick meal.

Some Food Restaurant across Jetty

 Local Breakfast

I just have a nasi lemak and milo ice and my buddy having the roti canai and teh o ais limau and the total bill cost us RM10.80, We are quite hungry and the restaurant are quite full, so we just finish our breakfast and left after we paid. Since we are full, we just roam around nearby the Jetty to take some shot, since my buddy never been here before and I don't think I want to come again by bus~ T_T (believe me is so tired)

Next to the Jetty

The mosque by the sea/river?

I don't know where exactly this place is but sure nearby the Jetty

After roam a bit, I decide we wait for the ferry at the jetty. Desperate the crowd getting more, I have no choice to try my luck at the ticketing officer near the departure gate. Even though our Ferry is 10am but the ticketing officer allow us to board the 9:30am ferry. I believe we are the last person to board the ferry as the ferry should be departing at 9:15am but delay till 9:30am.

The walkway toward the ferry

The safety demo inside the ferry

The ferry took around an hour before we reach Langkawi Island. Since the ferry is full, it take us some time to get down from the ferry and we almost the last person the left the ferry. Anyway, since it still early so we took our own sweet time to walk toward the arrival hall.

Arrive in Langkawi Ferry Jetty

As I had pre-book the car rental which been recommended by a friend of mine, so I had no worry of the transportation. Even though there is a lots of people at the arrival hall will offer you car rental, accommodation and even tour, I kinda scare as I read a lots of bad review and scam of them. That why, I pass and I wouldn't wan to take risk to spoil my holiday.

You can see the Eagle even from the Jetty

Our rented car

We suppose to rent a viva (auto), however due to most of the car is fully rented they give us this KIA, Picanto with the same rate at RM90/day. We are fine as long as it Auto and the car condition is still acceptable, not too bad and so far is clean inside. There are actually a lots other Tour and Agent just behind the KFC, once you walk out from the Jetty you may see the KFC and also Taxi for hire. Normally, they just give you the car with minimum petrol which can only last around 10km. so we quickly get to the petrol station and pum RM30 and bought ourselves some drink. We travel from Kuah Town to Pantai Cenang / Cenang Beach it took us around half an hour. Thanks to the Agent where we rented the car which give us a map and also the road sign which direct us to Pantai Cenang.

Reach Pantai Cenang, you know when you see Underwater World

Simple lunch (Malay Nasi Campur)

Since we are unable to check-in the hotel yet, so we just have our lunch in one of the restaurant opposite The Zone duty free shop. We just take some rice and fish and vege for me, and squid and vege for my buddy with 2 limau ice. Total cost for the lunch is RM16, believe me is not cheap eating in Langkawi. Should have the Mc Donald instead which located next to The Zone.

Once we are done we lunch, we just went to shop for some snack and drink later. As advise by the local, even though is very sunny now but it will rain hard later in evening. so we done a bit of shopping first for chocolates, snacks and drinks. Since we don't smoke, so we pass on cigarettes. Around 3pm we check in at Kuala Melaka Inn, which I had pre-book online for 2 night at RM183 for a standard room without window. However, since the hotel running full house they up-graded us to family room with full length window?! Wow~ another surprise?!

Standard room to Family Room?!

I never expected the such a big room for only 2 of us, but the weird thing about this hotel room is the floor?! and there are some ants on the table... haiz... Overall is fine and I forget to mentions the rate we are paying is inclusive free breakfast and free wifi~ what else can I ask more? Hee... Hee...

After taken some rest and shower, we go to walk around the beach since the rain stopped. The drive to Pantai Cenang from the hotel is around 10 minute.

Hungry!!! Ordered a Beef Kebab for RM3

Looking for dinner

Colourful Coconut

The road at night is quite busy with the car and also people doing shopping at the duty free shop. We just have some Mixes rice again for dinner and later looking for Island Hopping tour for the next day. We manage to book for the Island Hopping tour for the next day morning at RM30/person. Before going back to hotel, we grab some food and drink (Beers) for supper and also bought a Langkawi's T-shirt for RM5.

Overall, the first day is fully utilised as we reach the island in the morning, and we manage to do lots of thing. The hotel we book is quite a distant from the Pantai Cenang but overall not bad for the price we are paying. The only thing I wish is the hotel to have a fridge~ so I can store all my cold drink inside!!! = =' The weather at night is quite cold and refreshing may be due to it rain in the evening.

Ikan Bakar Fendi @ Dataran Glomac Kelana Jaya

Nowadays, everyday raining and make me craving for something hot and spicy. I always want to try the steamboat buffet but since I can't eat much, so forget about buffet as well as steamboat.... After a long rain last week me and one of my malay girl friend decide to try the Fendi grill fish which located at Kelana Jaya. I told her that previously, http://clumsyfallenangel.blogspot.com/2012/09/periuk-belanga-dataran-glomac-kelana.html, I went to Dataran Glomac to try the Ayam Penyet and realise this shop which located directly opposite of Periuk Belanga serving nice Grill Fish.

Once we reach, we quickly get a table and sitted. The staff will come and ask you for drink and as for food, you can go to the grill kitchen behind to choose your fish or just let them know which type of fish you want (if you are regular). I had requested a menu so I can decide on the set. My friend when to the back to choose her food since she don't know which one is 'pari' = stingray, Talapia, Kembong, Selar and etc.

Ayam Panggang Set

Ikan Pari Set

Kerang Bakar

I ordered the grill chicken set, all the set come with a rice, a small bowl of spicy soup and a special sauce. The food here is nice and tasty, may be because they serve it hot. Due to hungry we finish our food and forget to take picture of the drink. Anyway, I just order Lime Juice and nothing special. The Kerang is nice but the trouble is we need to remove the shell. The Grill Chicken and Grill Fish set now is RM7.50/ set. Even in the Menu written RM6.50, however the price had increase since after Hari Raya. As for Kerang Bakar, if I am not mistaken is RM5, the food is kind spicy but lucky both of us LOVE spicy food and we enjoy the sauce so much. The only thing disappointed would be the rice, kinda dry and hard for me.

Overall, the food is worth to try and avoid going there during the lunch time because lots of people and you might need to wait longer for the food. As for the price is kinda reasonable and we choose to sit outside instead as is kinda windy and cold since the rain stopped. I will definitely come again to try the Grill Squid~
