TrIple Cheese burger @ McDonald Mount Austin, Johor

Fast Food always been one of my favorite especially during odd hour and wondering where to eat next or hang out place? Mc Donald always been my favorite since my younger days.

Going back hometown in Johor and wondering what to have for supper, without second thought it will be McD lor~ y? cause near to the housing area and it operating 24 hours and how bad can a fast food be right? Therefore, driving out to have Mc Donald located at Mount Austin , Johor.

After glance though the menu on the light box behind the counter, both my siblings and I place the order. To my surprise, once I got the receipt and price showing at the light box menu is different by RM1 each. Erm,,, so I went to ask the floor manager regarding this matters.

My very first impression of staff is RUDE, well maybe there are quite some crowd during the weekend?! next to my surprise the floor manager tell me, the price showing is different from the system and 'is only different by RM1 aje'.

Wow~ I really don't know how to respond but at the same time he really make me angry and I request to cancel and refund for the whole order. Who not  know the different is only RM1? No apologize or take any action against this matters.

The receipt and the picture menu price is totally different

No apologize or giving me any solution, Totally disappointing and this is the first time I encounter this kind of issue. I wonder where is the quality of service nowadays in Malaysia, especially in the big city or town.
Lucky, the food still ok, well, since is fast food, how possible it will go wrong? right?
If I have a choice, I would rather travel to others fast food chain than this one.

2D 1N @ Singapore Trip ~ Day 1

Singapore Day 1

Singapore is already like second home to me since I been staying and working there for couple of years before I got married. Travelling from Johor Bahru to Singapore just like a piece of cake. In-fact, there are some Johorian which working in Singapore, been travel to and back Johor Bahru everyday. Since is a long weekend, I already expecting there will be more people entering to Singapore as usual. So both me and my husband trying so hard to wake up early to taking a public bus to JB Central. The worst thing which I never like JB is public transport, Bus - no fix time and you can wait till one or two hour and Taxi - no meters and they will choose customer which they prefer those working in Singapore or Singaporean. I am not sure if we are lucky or not but after waiting for half an hour, the bus show up.

  inside the bus to custom

The journey to JB central take us around half an hour, since this bus is using the new highway called EDL and the last station is JB central which directly below JB immigration. Upon have our passport scanned by the automatic machine, we have to walk down to the bus stop to take another bus to enter Singapore. I choose to take SMRT bus no 950 which I can buy the ticket of RM1.80 towards woodlands interchange for breakfast or brunch.

950 bus from JB custom to SG custom and Woodlands Interchange

The ride is where you board the bus from JB custom then get down at Singapore custom for stamp your passport then hop back to the bus to continue journey to Woodlands Interchange. You must be thinking why Woodlands Interchange? I use to stay nearby Woodlands and I am hunting for my favorite which I never miss when I am in Singapore @ Woodlands Causeway Point.

 MOS Burger !!!

Hahaha~ I always like this and whenever I come to Singapore is never complete if I missed it. I had the Seafood rice burger set with a side dish of fried chicken and drink. The set if I not mistaken is around SGD8+, sorry lost the receipt therefore unable to describe the exact amount but if you mentions of the taste... Awesome!!!! The rice, filling and the sauces is giving you a perfectly aroma and you can even feel the freshness of all the ingredient inside. Previously, they have the Fried Mussel Lemon but is not in the menu anymore. My all time favorite...

Oh, by the way, did I mentions that my sister is working in Singapore? hahaha~ another reason why I choose to visit Singapore. In Malaysia we have  LRT and in Singapore there are more known as MRT.
  Train Directory & Woodland Platform

Meeting my sister for lunch after a brunch, how fat can I be? Taking train from Woodlands to Yishun is just few station away. Travel by train is much faster and convenience for tourist like us. The journey Yishun station it like about 10 minutes and we have to go across to Yishun North Point meet up with my sister. Let see what my sister recommend us;

 3 cup of Pu'er Tea - SGD4.05

 Braise Vineger Pork - SGD8.80

 Fried Beans - SGD9.80

 Shanghai La Mien - SGD10.80

Crab with raw egg - SGD11.00

Shanghai Xio Long Pao - SGD2.70

 Tea Pot Soup - SGD7.00

 Condiment

The restaurant name is Mayin Chinese Cuisine Pte Ltd, as mentions earlier this restaurant is located at #02-01/05, North Point Shopping Centre. If you ask me on their food, I think the one I likes most would be Xio Long Pao, because is so juicy and the skin cook just nice. OK, let talk about others, Tea is quite unique where they serve you in individual cup the taste normal lor, just a normal Pu'er. Please don't mistaken the Tea Pot soup is a part of the tea, it actually is a dish, where there are some mushroom, meat and vegetable inside. For the Braise Vinegar Pork slices, I would say so-so since is kinda fat but they did marinated well and for the Fried bean and La Mien is just normal nothing special to mentions about. Personally, I don't like raw egg, the crab dish with raw egg is really not my type at the moments I saw the raw egg and they stir it in front of you. But I did try, the taste is not bad but I might enjoy it if I know there are no raw egg inside. The total bill come out at SGD63.75 where they also charge service tax of 10% and GST of 7 %. Well, now I think Malaysia is better when I realize we only charge 6% for GST.

Our journey continue after lunch, is to Sentosa Island. Going to Sentosa Island from Yishun is a bit tricky where we had change from MRT- Red Line then Circle Line and finally only to Purple Line just to reach Harbor Front Station. Indeed is very far journey but we only take less than 45 minute to reach. From Harbor Front then we need to take bus RWS8 to enter Sentosa Island. The bus will be stopping in front of the Casino and it cost SGD2.00. Else, you can walk to Sentosa Island but still you need to pay SGD1.00 for the entrance. Other alternate way to enter Sentosa Island would be by Train - SGB3.00 or Cable Car - forget how much but surely expensive.

Sentosa Island - Toward Imbiah Park

Sentosa Island is very crowded especially on the weekend. So walking is always the best choice for us, besides sight-seeing and taking photo, who know if I am lucky with my food hunt.

Walking on the hot and humid day? ice-cream is a must!!! Coconut Gelato ice-cream which really make the journey more enjoyable. Thumb up for the ice-cream with the cost around SGD5+ @ the Stick House just located below the Imbiah Station.

There are 2 activities or ride to be done in Sentosa Island today which I would strongly recommend is Luge & Skyride. Trick-eyes Museum is a newly attraction in Sentosa Island which I can't wait to take tones of picture.

Luge & Skyride

Too bad we can't take any picture while riding the Luge but like it said, Once is never Enough. We did enough our trip all the way down and is so fun until we forget the hot and the sweat. Hahahaha~ After sliding down by Luge we have to took the Skyride back up, as you can see it really exciting where it feel like siting on an open air cable car. Since I scare of height therefore, no able to look down even my feet. Honestly, Once is never enough, how we wish to take few more time on this ride but looking at the queue, we give up as we still have one more attraction to go.

Nice view

 Trickeye Museum Singapore

The queue is super long for this attraction and we had waited for more than half an hour for our turn enter and the museum is not as big as we expected. We have to queue and wait for our turn to take picture. We had spend around 3 hours inside taking picture, can you believe it? hahahaha~ Oops, I forget to mentions the cost for the attraction, Luge + Skyride and the Trickeye Museum is come up to total SGD30 per pax. Cheap right? This is thanks to my sister taking the trouble to bought it for us. Thanks again my lovely sister!!!

By the time we exit the Trickeye Museum, the sky is already dark. Therefore, we heading back to Vivo City for dinner. Planning to take dinner in Sentosa but after looking at the overprice food, I would rather try something else. Actually, we wanted to take train to Vivo City but the queue is super long till all the way down in front of the station therefore we decide to take the same bus RWS8 from the Resort World Sentosa back to Harbor Front bus stop. That is the end of our Sentosa Trip.

Our dinner at Food Republic in Vivo City;

Bimbibab Set - SGD8.90

Since we are too hungry and tired therefore we forget about taking picture and start eating when we reach the table. Food Republic is very crowded as usual and since it the food court that directly opposite the Sentosa rail therefore, most of the people dine in here after they trip in Sentosa either for dinner or supper. There are lots of stall selling all type of variety of food and I am totally spoil by the choices.

Our day end by taking train back to hotel which located near Farrer Park Station. I will share more about my hotel on my next post. Exhausted but fun! I would love to go Sentosa Island again.

MENG MENG ROASTED DUCK @ Taman Mount Austin, Johor Bahru

I had staying in Johor Bahru for quite sometime and trust me, I am not sure why I had no idea of this famous roast duck restaurant which is just around the corner. I came across this restaurant at TripAdvisor. Do you believe it? hahahahaha~

Without second thought, my husband and I just drove there for dinner and luckily the place is not pack and crowded as it claims. Maybe, is on the weekday night therefore, there are still roast duck, roast pork and char siew left. I love duck and my husband like pork so...

Roasted Duck and Pork (single pax) - RM9.80

Ta da! we have both Emperor Duck and half-fat Roast Pork. I like the roasted duck, may be it do taste like herbal duck and for the pork, surprisingly is not bad either. The skin is slightly crispy and the meat is so tender inside. Well, my first impression when I saw the roast pork hanging in the counter is meat look so dry.

Stir-Fried Bean Seedings - RM9.80

Nothing special about this vegetable and the taste is just normal but the price is slightly expensive. I think it will taste nicer if they put more garlic instead of the sliced dried mushroom.

Jin-Sheng Tonic Chicken Soup - RM8.00

Without fail, we always try to have soup for dinner. The soup do taste nice and trust me is not as oily as the picture. The serving of the soup is not even enough for both of us.

2 dishes and 1 soup

By the way, as seen in the picture, another thing I will highlight is the sweet sauce for the duck. I really like it and even pour some in my white rice. For rice there are 2 options either you want the oil rice or white rice and both is charge on the same price - RM1.50 per bowl. For drink we just have hot Chinese tea which cost us RM0.60 per glass.

The total bill come to RM33.70 inclusive of 6 % GST. When I receive the receipt, I just realise the bill are having the Meng Meng Roast Duck logo but written there Restoran Ta Chong? Anyway, I do like to try their char siew next time. As comment from my mother, she mentions the food there is over price, so we can't have it often. Hahaha~

SUSHI MENTAI @ Taman Mount Austin, Johor Bahru

Where do you bring your mum to celebrate Mother's Day?

This question always prompt out when the day getting nearer and nearer. Still wondering and have no idea where to bring my beloved mum? Well, good things, my mother love Japanese Food, especially sushi. There are lots of Japanese restaurant in Johor Bahru especially in this place called Taman Mount Asutin, Johor Bahru. I think there are easily 4 to 5 Japanese restaurant, from simple, classic to fine dinning Japanese food, all located around here.

What would be my choice? If you ask me, I would prefer simple and not too pricey sushi. Sushi Mentai - Mount Austin, I remember I saw this restaurant somewhere before at Bandar Manjalara, Kepong. The best thing about this Sushi Mentai, their sushi price range is either RM1.80 (orange plate) or RM2.80 (red plate). Their also have others dish from their wide range of menu, but as usual we like the to sit near the conveyor belt and looking at the fresh and variety sushi passing by.

Asari Miso Shiru - RM4.80

Chuka Kurage - RM4.80

 Chuka Wakame - RM4.80

With the price you are paying, I think is ok since it serve cold. Well, I personally like the clam miso soup which is so tasty and the clam is quite big and fresh. I wish to order the cawanmushi, however they seem to be lack of manpower therefore, the service is kinda slow. As for the sushi, we had order 7 plate of RM1.80 and 7 plate of RM2.80 as below;

Let me tell you, I  really can't remember all the sushi name I had eaten, but since I taken it from the conveyor belt so never border about the name. Most important we enjoy the food and my mother is happy with the food. I forget to take the picture of the Takayoki because we order it last and we had it while it still hot. How to resist?

I might left out some of the picture because we are enjoying our food slowly and having their refillable green tea which make us more relax + lazy perhaps? For the RM2.80 per plate, what else I can ask more? the food is fresh as we saw the chef is non-stop making it. Since they are short of chef, therefore the sushi available on the belt is very limited. We are waiting for every 15-20 minute for each  new type of sushi available on the belt.

On top of that we had refillable green tea at RM1.00 per pax. Overall, the bill come to RM57.85 inclusive of 10% service charge and 6% GST. If you are sushi lover, why not give it a try. With the reasonable price, fresh and variety, therefore, you will be expecting lots of people especially during weekend.
