Ikan Bakar Fendi @ Dataran Glomac Kelana Jaya

Nowadays, everyday raining and make me craving for something hot and spicy. I always want to try the steamboat buffet but since I can't eat much, so forget about buffet as well as steamboat.... After a long rain last week me and one of my malay girl friend decide to try the Fendi grill fish which located at Kelana Jaya. I told her that previously, http://clumsyfallenangel.blogspot.com/2012/09/periuk-belanga-dataran-glomac-kelana.html, I went to Dataran Glomac to try the Ayam Penyet and realise this shop which located directly opposite of Periuk Belanga serving nice Grill Fish.

Once we reach, we quickly get a table and sitted. The staff will come and ask you for drink and as for food, you can go to the grill kitchen behind to choose your fish or just let them know which type of fish you want (if you are regular). I had requested a menu so I can decide on the set. My friend when to the back to choose her food since she don't know which one is 'pari' = stingray, Talapia, Kembong, Selar and etc.

Ayam Panggang Set

Ikan Pari Set

Kerang Bakar

I ordered the grill chicken set, all the set come with a rice, a small bowl of spicy soup and a special sauce. The food here is nice and tasty, may be because they serve it hot. Due to hungry we finish our food and forget to take picture of the drink. Anyway, I just order Lime Juice and nothing special. The Kerang is nice but the trouble is we need to remove the shell. The Grill Chicken and Grill Fish set now is RM7.50/ set. Even in the Menu written RM6.50, however the price had increase since after Hari Raya. As for Kerang Bakar, if I am not mistaken is RM5, the food is kind spicy but lucky both of us LOVE spicy food and we enjoy the sauce so much. The only thing disappointed would be the rice, kinda dry and hard for me.

Overall, the food is worth to try and avoid going there during the lunch time because lots of people and you might need to wait longer for the food. As for the price is kinda reasonable and we choose to sit outside instead as is kinda windy and cold since the rain stopped. I will definitely come again to try the Grill Squid~

2D 1N @ Penang Food Trip ~ Part 2/2

PENANG DAY 2~

Sorry, as I forget to post my Day 2 of my Penang Trip. Let continue from where I left off http://clumsyfallenangel.blogspot.com/2012/10/2d-1n-penang-food-trip-part-12.html , the next day we woke up early is not because we are hungry or craving for food but guess what... we woke up by the morning prayer nearby the mosque. hahahaha~

Since we woke up early, we start looking for breakfast. We walk towards the Campbell Street and found this one Toh Soon Cafe with so many people enjoy the same food, steam bread with kaya butter with coffee, milo, or tea. Some of them even have the half cook egg and nasi lemak.

Inside so lane but full with people early in the morning

The cafe sign - well they are extremely famous

Steam Bread with Kaya Butter & Hot Milo

Half Boiled Egg

Believe me, I dunno how the half boiled egg taste since I don't egg uncooked egg. Anyway, the bread just taste soft since it boiled but nothing special. Our total breakfast cost RM6.20 for the steam bread, 2 hot milo and a set of half boiled egg.

After done with the breakfast we quickly left as they are people waiting for the table. Therefore we walk to Perangin Mall to buy our Bus Ticket to return back to KL. We also pass by the morning market but didn't go in as the sun is getting hot and is very difficult to walk under the hot sun later.

Morning Market look quite happening

Walking though the street to Perangin Mall

After bought the bus ticket from Perangin Mall, we walk back to the guest house and start packing. After check out we start looking for Lunch. My friend, the little devil suddenly craving for chicken rice after saw the leaflet from Penang Tourism recommend the chicken rice nearly the Lebuh Chulia.

The Chicken Rice Shop, long queue since is almost Lunch Time

You have to pay 30 cent if you don't order any drink

The White Chicken Rice - Taste so so

The intestine soup - not much till I need to scope to take pic

Char Siew Rice

Sky Restaurant

The Food there is quite disappointed. Nothing special and they serve with rice with meat and bit soy sauce only. Besides, it not cheap as well, our total meal is RM12 for the 2 plate of rice and the soup. Since I didn't order any drink therefore my friend is paying RM2.00 for the Apple Juice + Charge 30 cent for not ordering any drink. =.='

After lunch, I am craving for the dessert therefore we going to walk to Burma road to try the dessert at the food court @ New World Park. It about 20 minute walk to Burma road since is not sunny as it going to rain soon, therefore is a nice weather to walk.

We pass by a piece of art - made from the steel on the side of the road?!

First thing to order - must be the Penang Famous, Ice Kacang...

Ice Kacang - RM2.50

The Stall I order Ice Kacang

Since the rain stopped and we are full, we have decided to walk back to Perangin Mall to take our bus back to KL. However, due to there is some delay on our bus we been waited for almost an hour so we went to hunt for food again as we had forgotten the Penang Famous Nasi Kandar.

The Curry Smell~ Nice

The Shop even equipped with CCTV

So many variety

Dunno how much since I am not paying

Well the meal is nice and the curry is superb. The thing I like here is once your order is done he will say 'Line Clear' then the next customer can place their order. Wow~ that is something different... that why it called Line Clear Nasi Kandar and is open 24 hour. Anytime you can eat~

Finally, we depart from Penang at 5:30pm. Leaving the Food Paradise Penang making me sad... and also making me FAT by 3kg within 2 day. However, we do enjoy the food and too bad we didn't done much sight-seeing here. But I will come back again~ For the food of course!!!

2D 1N @ Penang Food Trip ~ Part 1/2

PENANG DAY 1~

Whenever we think about food paradise is always end up in Penang. Recently, I went to Penang with a friend of mine (little devil) as we both craving for some GOOD food. Since we both off on a weekday and have nothing else to do therefore we decided! Go Penang Makan-makan~
We meet up at Masjid Jamek LRT station in the morning, as we both come from different direction and we drop of at Plaza Rakyat LRT station and walk to Puduraya to get the bus ticket to Penang.

An old building nearby the Masjid Jamek Star LRT

The bus ticket to Penang cost RM35/pax one way. After bought the bus ticket we had decided to have breakfast in Puduraya. Since we only have around half an hour for breakfast so we had decided to have the Fastest Breakfast @ Marrybrown Fast Food. Desperate that I am kinda hungry, so I had order the meal of 2 pcs of chicken (look like KFC snack plate).

My heavy breakfast

Since they just opened and the serving is quite hot, somehow is taste so nice. I suddenly like Marrybrown more then KFC due to they serve salad instead of coleslaw. I am wondering also whether KFC and Marrybrown, which one is cheaper. The above set is RM10.10. The only thing disappointed there is the WIFI is not working?!
The journey by bus to Penang is taken around 5 hours depend on the bus speed and whether they stop for break or stop at Butterworth first then only to Sg Nibong bus terminal. We bought the bus ticket to Sg Nibong bus terminal instead of Butterworth. If you bought a bus ticket to Butterworth then you need to take the ferry to Penang Island. I rather go though the penang bridge as I am too lazy to wait and take the ferry to cross.

Wow, that is Komtar

Penang Bridge

Finally, reach Penang after the long journey in the bus. We drop off at Sungai Nibong Bus Terminal and waited for the bus to Komtar, Georgetown. We waited around 15min and taken the Rapid bus no.101 to Komtar and the fare is RM2/pax. Somehow I think is reasonable instead taking a taxi which will cost me more than RM15 to komtar, I rather take bus and have some sight seeing.

Is the same bus like the one in KL

The bus ticket

The bus will stopping nearby Komtar Terminal, next to 1st Avenue Shopping centre and he will shout to inform you, Komtar komtar! Once we reach Georgetown, first thing to do is hunt for a place to stay for the night. We walk to Jalan Penang from Komtar, and found a simple guest house for 2 pax at RM45 per night with attached bathroom. I always ask to view the room before the decided to stay in to make sure is clean and comfortable. After check-in, we decided walk around to start hunting for food.

Old Building

Police Station

Temple Prayer

The nine god last day prayer

We suppose to hunt for food but due to the nice scenery, we end up walking and sight-seeing instead. When we reach Burma Street, I just realise that the Nine God Prayer is on going and the street facing the temple selling all sort of vegetarian food and lots of people too. I am not really a fan for vegetarian so too bad...

 Gurney Drive

As we can't decide what and where to eat, so we taken a bus to Gurney Drive as it been said the place which have variety of famous food there. The first food that come to our mind when we reach here is Penang Famous Char Koay Teow.

The only stall selling char koay teow on that day

Char Koay Teow

Believe me, I kinda disappointed with the char koay teow, not really nice and is kinda expensive also. This small plate of fried noodle cost RM5?! even more expensive than the one I had in KL. Nothing special also and don't have 'kerang' on it... sad...

Asam Laksa

This bowl of asam laksa cost RM3.50, nothing special and the prawn sauce had added in the soup so can't really taste. Since is small bowl, I think it finished in less than 5 minute. Might be I am hungry too.

Penang Rojak (The rojak sauce is nice)

Oh Jian (Oyster omelet)

The small pate of Rojak cost RM4 and contain fruits and yellow squid. As for the Oyster omelet cost RM6 and the taste is ok but I think they very generous in giving so much spring onion.

Our dinner

All the food here is self service as the crowd is kinda heavy during dinner time approaching. Means, you order then wait then pay and bring ur own food to the table. the seat is very limited and you will see lots people would either take out or waiting for your table.

The queue for the char koay teow

Mua chi @ RM2 - not bad

Gurney Drive at nite

Lucky we finished our meal before the rain approaching. While walking to the bus stop I can see there are people still coming to have they dinner there, just wondering how they going to eat with the rain? We taken the bus back to Penang Street and it took around 20 minute due to the rain and we are super lucky as the rain stopped once we reach Georgetown.

The rain stopped

This is really a hotel???

Since rain stopped and there is still some space in the stomach so we take a walk as they is a very famous wan tan mee in Lebuh Chulia. Therefore, we walk around to look for the Wan Tan Mee Stall. Not sure what is the name but it super famous as we found it on the free map taken by my friend in 1st Avenue shopping centre.

Penang Lobak

Found the Famous Wan Tan Mee

The Lobak cost RM8 kinda expensive and the sauce not nice also. I had order a watermelon juice too and it only cost RM1.50 consider cheap. The Wan Tan Mee stall only open at nite from 8:30pm till 12:30pm, and believe me lots people ordering and you might have to wait at least 15min. The Wan Tan Mee taste so nice as the noodle so tender and not over cook, the char siew and wan tan is just ok. The best thing about this Wan Tan Mee is only cost RM2.80?! Super Cheap!!!

Soup Kambing

We ended the food hunt with Soup Kambing from Soup Hameed restaurant, my favourite all time soup... my friend order a roti canai and a Limau Ais. Total cost for the bill is RM8.70 since the soup kambing it self already cost RM6 kinda expensive but since I like lamb so is ok.

After having so much of food it make me kinda sleepy and once we reach the hotel, we slept soundly may be due to the food or tired since we been walking for almost half a day.
